London Giants juniors take plenty of positives from first half of the season
News
Little Giants Volleyball Club have had a very productive start to the season, and a great way to end the year of 2022, especially with the competitions held at the iconic Olympic venue Copper Box Arena, where the handball tournaments of the 2012 Olympics were played. A first, for a Volleyball England Grand Prix.

Despite a lower number of players during pre-season, the U16 boys showed real character to stay focused on developing their physical and mental strength for a tough season ahead, while the U18 boys, a recently formed team, have displayed real teamwork, competitiveness and sportsmanship.
London Giants are immensely proud of the fortitude, resilience, and commitment that they have shown throughout the early days of this new season. They have managed to develop profound comradery, pushing each other to be better. All should be very proud of the U16s performance against some of the top teams in the country. Irrespective of being a new team, and some completely new to Volleyball, the boys’ teams have performed admirably.
The boys coach Mohammadali Tighazzadeh had this to say:
“Despite the late start, we have managed to build a phenomenal team chemistry. The respect and the love that is amongst our current squad is second to none. Not only do the players work hard to become better players, but they push each other to become better athletes and subsequently a better team.”
So far London Giants U16 girls are the only girls’ team to have competed. This was in the first Tier 1 Volleyball England Grand Prix of the season. For the majority of the U16 girls, this was the very first time in such a competitive event. With most of the girls aged between 13 and 14, there was a risk they could be overwhelmed coming up against the reigning national champions in their very first game. However, despite being up against a far more experienced team, they stuck together, supported each other; and produced a positive performance that they, and all of London Giants can be proud of.
The girls' coach Simon Roscoe stated:
“In terms of the team’s overall progress, whilst very early in their development they are showing the desire and commitment to become better players (both technically and with their attitude to their teammates). The reality of junior team and player development is about making yearly progress, age category jumps and constantly bringing new players through to replace those that have moved up to the next age category.”

London Giants would like to officially congratulate all of its members and the work they have done thus far, while being excited for the remaining season and continuing on this journey towards progress.
