The multi-sport European Championships Munich 2022 have mesmerised hundreds of thousands by delivering an event of the highest standards and an experience that the people of Munich as well as those travelling from afar will never forget. While inspiring, among others, the next generation of Beach Volleyball players, Munich 2022 did also provide a very important learning opportunity for young people wishing to work in the sport industry and event management.

The five young leaders selected by the CEV accompanied by their mentor, CEV Snow and Beach Volleyball Coordinator Daniel Horvath

Five young aspiring administrators from Austria, Ireland, Slovenia, Türkiye, and Ukraine joined the ‘Young Leaders Forum’ run by European Athletics in conjunction with Munich 2022. They all have a strong connection with their respective National Federations back home, a huge passion for Volleyball and all wish to grow their skills and, as a result, their favourite sport as well.

Earlier this week, they joined a series of workshops, lectures on topic such as sustainability, public finance, innovations and safeguarding in sport, teambuilding and networking opportunities, thus meeting dozens of peers, all sharing they very same dream of pursuing a career in the sport industry. While they were heavily impressed with the magnitude of the event delivered in Munich, which is realistically hard to replicate anytime soon, they agreed they would take a wealth of information and experience to share when they return home.

The young leaders enjoyed the electrifying ambiance of the Beach Volleyball competition held at Königsplatz

Observing what happens behind the scenes of EuroBeachVolley and some of the other sports, listening to inspiring lecturers, enjoying the vibe at the iconic Königsplatz in Munich and the actions of Europe’s top Beach Volleyball players will certainly take some time to sink in. Our young leaders all sounded equally motivated to apply the lessons they have learned as soon as such an opportunity arises. If they – as well as the audience – return home with a sense of fulfilment and inspired to pursue their goals and dreams, – whatever this takes – the multi-sport European Championships 2022 have accomplished their ultimate mission.

With this in mind, we wish Alisa, Sara, Jure, Amanda and Christoph the very best of luck in their current and future endeavours – hoping that the experience they enjoyed in Munich only represents the first step of a long and successful career in the sport!
