The European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) is pleased to announce that it has secured funding from the Erasmus+ Programme for its upcoming initiative, EmpowHER Volleyball Game Changer (EVGC). Scheduled to launch in January 2025, this groundbreaking project will run for 36 months and is designed to promote gender equality and inclusivity in sports by empowering women within CEV and its key partners. The partners include the EOC EU Office, EOSE (European Observatoire of Sport and Employment), and the national Volleyball federations of Albania, Georgia, Germany, Luxembourg, Malta, and Sweden.

This initiative aligns with CEV’s commitment to fostering gender balance, as outlined in its statutes. Recognising the crucial role of gender equality in driving innovation and growth, CEV is determined to address existing disparities through the EVGC project, which aims to increase women’s participation in leadership positions.

The EVGC project, funded by Erasmus+, will focus on four key areas:

1. Needs Assessment: Conducting an in-depth analysis to identify the barriers women face in accessing leadership roles within the organisation.

2. Executive Support: Securing commitment from top leadership through the development of strategic policies that promote gender equality.

3. Training and Education: Implementing specialised training programmes and educational initiatives that target gender equality, thereby equipping women with the skills and knowledge needed to advance in their careers.

4. Networking and Mentorship: Building a robust network of women across CEV, thus fostering mentorship and collaboration both within and beyond the organisation.

By integrating these initiatives into its broader strategic goals, CEV aims to create a more inclusive and diverse environment that benefits the organisation and contributes to the overall growth of Volleyball as a sport.

The EVGC project represents a significant step towards CEV’s long-term vision of achieving gender balance and empowering women to take on leadership roles within the sport. The Erasmus+ Programme funding will be instrumental in making this vision a reality, positioning CEV as a leader in promoting gender equality in sports organisations across Europe.
