CEV renews appeal for peace and dialogue
News
The European Volleyball family is following with deep concern the latest developments in the Middle East, the Persian Gulf and the Eastern Mediterranean region, including the widening impact of military operations. The CEV leadership shares the same feelings of the Volleyball community at large in appealing for the return to dialogue and diplomatic talks to de-escalate the current situation and make space for the return of a lasting peace across the region and further beyond. This appeal and call for peace and dialogue equally applies to all other areas of conflict, within Europe, such as Ukraine, and across the globe as well.
Under the current circumstances, it appears more evident than ever that sport can and should play a pivotal role in promoting peace, solidarity, mutual support, respect for one another to build bridges and bring people together in a spirit of friendship, fairness, and respect.
The CEV will continue to follow and monitor the latest developments on the ground, in close connection with the relevant national authorities, with the safety of the Volleyball community as its highest priority. The CEV expresses the most sincere condolences to all victims of the ongoing conflicts while standing in solidarity with their families and loved ones.
