CEV President praises Latvian Federation for continuous growth of the sport
News
This past week, CEV President Aleksandar Boričić had a very productive meeting with representatives of the Latvian Volleyball Federation, with Secretary General Arnis Tunte and Board of Administration Member Arturs Vitkovskis paying a visit to Belgrade to discuss a number of items on the agenda. CEV Managing Director Thorsten Endres did attend the meeting as well.
In a very good atmosphere of mutual understanding, the parties discussed the latest developments of Volleyball and Beach Volleyball in Latvia, future activities planned by the Latvian Volleyball Federation and the possibility to organise major European events in the Baltic country. Latvia has established itself especially as a strong Beach Volleyball nation – with the impressive achievements of their elite teams complemented by the successful delivery of major competitions such as the 2017 and 2020 editions of EuroBeachVolley both held on Latvian soil.
Most recently, Tina Graudina and Anastasija Samoilova were crowned European champions in 2022 in Munich as well as winners of the CEV Queen and King of the Court European Finals held in Luxembourg earlier this year. Moreover, the younger generation of players has achieved very promising results as well – and this past summer the city of Riga played host to a highly successful 2023 edition of #EuroBeachVolleyU20.
CEV President Boričić expressed his satisfaction with the continuous growth of the sport in the Baltic country and wished the Latvian Volleyball Federation much success at every level, from the organisation of future international and domestic competitions to the performance of their athletes on the European and global stage.
