During their stay in Bologna for the Final Four of the women’s national cup organised by Lega Volley Femminile, CEV President Roko Sikirić and CEV Managing Director Vuk Karanovic did also visit a camp run by the Italian Volleyball Federation (FIPAV) and Lega Volley Femminile for players from the country’s second division (A2). The three-hour long session was held under the supervision of the legendary Julio Velasco, who last summer helped Italy secure a historic, unprecedented Olympic triumph at Paris 2024.

“I was very impressed by the professionalism shown by all involved in this camp. Moreover, it is always a pleasure to interact with someone who knows our sport inside out as Julio Velasco does. His perspective on things is truly unique and highly valuable. This experience was another opportunity to witness the efforts made by our colleagues at the Italian Volleyball Federation and Lega Volley Femminile to grow the sport as they capitalise on the enormous wave of enthusiasm generated by their Olympic triumph,” says the CEV President.
Only two weeks after witnessing the men’s finals at the very same venue, Mr Sikirić returned to Bologna to follow the women’s Final Four featuring a good share of Europe’s and the world’s top players. “We are enjoying a show of the highest calibre, and I would like to congratulate the friends and colleagues from Lega Volley Femminile on a job well done. They inspire and motivate us all to continue to work hard for the good of the sport.”
