News
On Saturday, CEV President Roko Sikirić delivered a visionary presentation on the future of European Volleyball to the hundreds of delegates from across the globe attending the 39th FIVB World Congress in Porto, Portugal.
The CEV President discussed the plans to revamp European competitions, with a focus on streamlining the calendar while raising their appeal and attractiveness for sponsors, partners, media, and fans alike.
A priority he shares with all members of the CEV Board of Administration, good governance will be playing a leading role in shaping the future of European Volleyball, with integrity, transparency, accountability, and inclusivity at the core of the sustainable growth of the sport. To this extent, the CEV leadership will foster a continued dialogue with all stakeholders so that they are involved and participate in defining the future trajectory that European Volleyball will take.
There is a clear need for European Volleyball to evolve from a commercial standpoint, the CEV President said, and such goal will be achieved through a comprehensive business plan and commercial strategy.
Moreover, the CEV President introduced the concept of a CEV Solidarity Fund, which will support initiatives, among others, using Volleyball as a tool for positive social change, educate and nurture the talent of sports professionals and support national team programmes in the mid- and long term. There will be actions implemented to support the development of the sport at the grassroots level, key stakeholders such as coaches and referees, and tailor-made initiatives specifically designed for the younger audiences as well.
While pursuing such ambitious goals, the CEV will work hand in hand with the FIVB and all other Continental Confederations while uniting the European Volleyball family under its umbrella so that equal opportunities are made available to all members while respecting their enriching diversity and uniqueness.
