CEV President hosts high-profile meeting with Serbia’s Minister of Sport and Volleyball Federation

A high-profile meeting was held on Tuesday at the CEV President Office in Belgrade, where CEV President Aleksandar Boričić, who is also an Honorary President of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia (VFS), hosted the Minister of Sports of the Republic of Serbia, Mr Zoran Gajić, and a VFS delegation including their President, Mr Đula Mešter.

The VFS delegation, composed of Ivan Knežević, Secretary General, Jelena Nikolić, Senior Vice-President, Vesna Đurišić, Vice-President, Dragutin Ćuk, Technical Director, Danilo Mrđa, Competition Director, Dragoljub Zbiljić, President of the Sports Association Vojvodina from Novi Sad, and Predrag Mihailović, Managing Director and Editor in Chief of the Sportal.rs website, discussed with the CEV President and the Minister of Sports the VFS strategic long-term (until 2032) development plan devised by the organisation to further grow the sport in the Balkan country. Ways to help further promote and raise the level of Volleyball in Serbia were discussed as well.

Moreover, the leaders of the Volleyball Federation of Serbia raised the prospect of bidding for the organisation of major European and other international Volleyball events run under the auspices of the CEV and the FIVB in the coming years. Most recently, Serbia hosted the CEV EuroVolley 2021 Women event, setting an all-time record of attendance for a women’s match when 20,565 people came together for the gold medal game between Serbia and Italy at the iconic Štark Arena in Belgrade.
