CEV President Aleksandar Boričić attended this past weekend the final stage of the Mobiliar Volley Cup organised by Swiss Volley at the iconic WIN4 arena in Winterthur. The event coincides with a major highlight in the indoor season for the whole Swiss Volleyball family – with Swiss Volley President Nora Willi proudly and happily welcoming the CEV President to Winterthur.

Mr Boričić did closely follow the men’s finale before awarding eventual winners Chênois GENEVE, as the team coached by Marco Camperi beat LAUSANNE UC 3-1 (25-15, 21-25, 25-13, 25-20) to lift the trophy for the ninth time in their history.

Middle blocker Dejan Radic, who is originally from Serbia, was the outstanding performer for the winning side: “It is unbelievable! Already at the beginning of the season, we did feel like this team was good enough and ready to win! However, after losing in the playoffs of the national league, we are even happier that we could win the Cup Final.”

The CEV President presented the coveted trophy to the winners of the women’s competition as well, Viteos NEUCHATEL UC – who needed five sets to edge past Volley LUGANO after coming back from a 0-2 deficit (22-25, 14-25, 25-16, 25-20, 15-7) and secure the title for the second time in the club’s history.

“This is the very first Cup title for me, as much as for many of my teammates, and therefore we are extremely happy,” said middle blocker and MVP Samira Sulser. “My team played extremely well in reception, and this allowed us to have so many opportunities for me to attack through the middle,” she acknowledged.
