With the anticipation and excitement obviously mounting ahead of the CEV Champions League Volley 2021 Super Finals, the CEV Board of Administration had their second plenary meeting of the year in Verona – as the city of Romeo and Juliet plays host on Saturday to the first major international Volleyball event since the outbreak of the pandemic.

After European Volleyball responded swiftly and decisively to the global health crisis already in the spring of last year, CEV President Aleksandar Boričić and his colleagues are now focusing on identifying measures and actions to make sure that Volleyball will be enjoying an even better position in post-pandemic times. The coronavirus crisis is obviously still causing many constraints but as long as they stick together, members of the Volleyball family will be able to navigate these extremely trying times as much as they have already done over the past few months.

In line with the plans drafted earlier this year, the CEV is involving members of the Volleyball family and other stakeholders in a series of ‘think tanks’ in order to deliver a long-term plan for the further growth of the game at all levels. This applies to Beach Volleyball as well, with the first round of such exchanges already held back in March to lay the groundwork for the development of a strategy that should help deliver more activities and further raise the profile of the sport.

Moreover, the CEV Board of Administration discussed proposals relating to the future of age-group Volleyball competitions, focusing on the provision of more opportunities for younger players, our stars in the making, to compete internationally and ensure their smooth transition from the youth / junior to the senior ranks.

The CEV President and BoA members all look forward to a truly exciting remainder of 2021, with a number of highlights coming up soon – such as EuroVolley, EuroBeachVolley and the final phase of the Olympic-qualifying Continental Cup.

The European Volleyball family is stronger and more united than ever and ready to take on the challenges that lie ahead!
