CEV President Roko Sikirić and Managing Director Vuk Karanovic have travelled to Albania to attend the annual General Assembly of the Balkan Volleyball Association (BVA) in Tirana as well as to have a series of high-profile meetings with the leadership of the Albanian Volleyball Federation (FSHV) and other key sports authorities from the Balkan country.

The CEV and FSHV have renewed their partnership for the good of the sport

The conversation with FSHV President Erlind Pëllumbi revolved around the Final Round of this year’s #EuroVolleyU16W – which Albania will be co-hosting later this summer together with their neighbours from Kosovo. Albania is rising to the occasion again to deliver an event of this calibre after previous experiences in other age groups, thereby showing how their Federation and Volleyball community are committed to contributing to the growth of the sport across Europe.

Volleyball in Albania is on the rise at all levels, as shown by the highly encouraging figures resulting from the implementation of the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ with the help of schools and clubs across the country. Moreover, to upgrade the skills of coaches working at the grassroots level, a workshop is being held this weekend also in conjunction with the CEV School Project and the FSHV has made important step forward in the use of digital tools and other technological applications.

Mr Pëllumbi thanked the CEV for their continuous support to Albania’s Volleyball family and especially for the trust shown in their ability to organise this year’s #EuroVolleyU16W.

“I am grateful for the invitation we received to visit Albania on the eve of the BVA General Assembly and we are looking forward to strengthening our cooperation with Mr Pëllumbi and his team, and we will provide any support or assistance required to deliver an event of the highest quality when later this summer the rising stars of European Volleyball will be coming together in Albania and Kosovo for the #EuroVolleyU16W Final Round."

The CEV and FSHV will continue to work hand in hand for the good of Volleyball in Albania, the Balkan region and further beyond – with the Albanian Volleyball Federation regarded as a best practice and virtuous case study for National Federations from categories 1 and 2 when it comes to the ability to advance the game and achieve tangible progress through strategic, well-thought planning.
