#BeachNationsCup in Protaras a true celebration of sport and Europe
News
The Preliminary Phase Pool B of the CEV Beach Volleyball Nations Cup hosted in Protaras on the weekend of 9-10 May with the participation of the men’s national teams of Poland, Israel, Bulgaria, and host nation Cyprus, proved to be much more than just a successful sporting event. The excitement of Beach Volleyball met the breathtaking beauty of the beaches of the Municipality of Paralimni-Deryneia, creating an irresistible combination, further enhanced by a special celebration.
In close coordination with the CEV, the Cyprus Volleyball Federation took the initiative to celebrate Europe Day on Saturday, May 9, thereby highlighting the timeless message of cooperation and peaceful coexistence among the peoples of Europe – a message further strengthened through the noble spirit of sport, which was even more relevant as Cyprus currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The organisers promoted Europe Day through LED display boards around the venue, promotional roll-up banners, and continuous references to the special occasion. At the same time, representatives of the Cyprus Youth Organisation were invited to Protaras to promote the European Youth Card and strengthen European awareness among young people aged 18 to 30.
The overall outcome, which was highly satisfactory both organisationally and competitively, confirmed once again that the island of Cyprus remains as beautiful and safe as ever, offering ideal hospitality conditions for every visitor and is fully capable of hosting major sporting events such as the CEV Beach Volleyball Nations Cup – as well as any other major events that may follow!
