The members of the European Sports Organising Commission (ESOC) travelled earlier this week to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg for what was their last meeting of the 2020-2024 term.

It was an opportunity to review and make plans for the many national team competitions organised in 2023 and due to take place next year respectively, with a focus on continental age-group championships – with Final Rounds now open to as many as 16 teams – and the European Golden and Silver Leagues. The international calendar, which recently underwent some major changes, was another topic discussed by those attending the meeting in person at the CEV headquarters as well as remotely via video link.

On Wednesday morning, the ESOC members sat down together with their colleagues from the European Cups Commission (ECC) to review a number of items of common interest – such as changes to the existing CEV Volleyball Competitions Regulations, the role and tasks of CEV Supervisors, and ideas to establish an even smoother cooperation with clubs and National Federations whose teams contest CEV-sanctioned competitions.

Overall, it was a productive meeting, with proposals prepared by the Commission to be forwarded to the CEV Board of Administration for their analysis and eventual approval. The CEV Board of Administration will have their next plenary meeting in early February of 2024.
