#1DayMore4Volleyball
Luxembourg, March 5, 2020. On Saturday, February 29, the CEV organised an event to get volleyball players all across Europe – east to west, young and old – to play volleyball together. Because of the leap year, 2020 had one extra day to play volleyball, this is what we celebrated. Players, teams and leagues played as many as 11,005 games across 2,463 venues in 51 countries. Many people joined the action on social media too, with videos for the #volleyskillchallenge including superstars such as Bruno Rezende, Eda Erdem, Wilfredo Leon, and Isabelle Haak in support of 1DayMore4Volleyball gaining more than 1,000,000 views on Instagram alone!
A lot of fans & players also submitted their photos. With so many events going on, there were plenty of highlights.
In Vienna, members of the CEV, the Austrian federation, and volleyball legends such as Samuele Papi, Julius Brink, Clemens Doppler and Alexander Horst hosted a central event in the iconic Palmenhaus.
In North Macedonia, Viola Voley put together an event with guests from Bulgaria, Greece, and Portugal where their young players completed a range of fun volleyball activities (check out their Facebook page "Виола Волеј" for some creative videos!).
In Finland, East volley brought together local fans and their junior team for an amazing 3-2 win for their club!
In Albania, high school students participated for five hours in games against each other.
These were only a few of the hundreds of amazing events taking place across Europe. We hope you enjoyed participating in the event, and the prize winners will be announced soon!
