This year’s leap day was a special opportunity to celebrate Volleyball and that our favourite game truly is a sport for everyone! #1DayMore4Volleyball, a campaign organised by the CEV for the third time, was a major hit on social media and later this week the winners of the much-coveted prizes at stake will be announced!

The campaign did manage to raise awareness about Volleyball across Europe and even further afield as well – with most of the registrations coming from USA (15.9%) followed by traditional Volleyball powerhouses Italy and Türkiye.

The CEV did manage to spread news and the spirit of the campaign with the help of as many as 52 elite players taking their time to show that Volleyball is a sport for everyone and that it can be played anywhere at any time – no matter the circumstances or the equipment available!

Reigning Olympic champions Anders Mol and Christian Sørum of Norway did very much contribute to the buzz around #1DayMore4Volleyball as they recorded a reel of themselves playing Volleyball with their dog, Kiara, which went viral and did reach as many as 17.7 million views on the CEV’s official Instagram account. Their Scandinavian rivals, reigning European champions David Åhman/Jonatan Hellvig of Sweden did also help with the promotion of this action – as did Italy’s standout teams Allianz Vero Volley MILANO and Reale Mutua Fenera CHIERI, thereby making sure the number of views on the CEV’s Instagram would reach 46.2 million.

The video featuring the ‘volley dog’ and the Beach Volley Vikings recorded the most views on the CEV’s TikTok channel as well thereby largely contributing to a total of 15.1 million views registered for #1DayMore4Volleyball content.

#1DayMore4Volleyball was a popular theme on Facebook as well, with the reel featuring Brazilian player Roberta Ratzke emerging as the most viewed content followed by videos involving players of Cucine Lube CIVITANOVA and Imoco CONEGLIANO.

Since the third edition of this campaign was launched on February 5 and up until March 3, the official hashtag #1DayMore4Volleyball has been trending, thereby recording 774,144 interactions on the CEV’s official social media channels alone.

Volleyball enthusiasts from across a wide spectrum of ages, backgrounds, abilities, etc. have come together to celebrate this year’s leap day by playing Volleyball with friends, family members, colleagues, and even unknown by-passers. Their ability to promote creativity, inclusion, diversity, and mass participation will be officially recognised later this Friday when the winners of the highly coveted prizes will be announced! Stay tuned and even though this year’s leap day is now behind us, keep the ball flying and make sure you continue to spread good vibes and positive energy with the help of Volleyball!
