Next School Project webinar series coming up soon!

The CEV Technical and Development Department is delighted to launch a fifth series of webinars run in conjunction with the School Project – which follows the success of the previous online sessions hosted throughout 2020 and earlier this year as well.

Jiri Popelka, a former elite player from the Czech Republic who performed as an Outside Hitter for as many as 13 clubs across Europe throughout his career will open this webinar series on May 6, 2021. Jiri, who retired from competitive sport at the end of the 2012/2013 season, is currently a coach for the South Bohemian Volleyball Association, the President of the Škola volejbalu Volleyball club in his native Czech Republic, and founder of the VolleyCountry online platform for coaches, players, and fans. He helped organise the World Volleyball Coaches Show with more than 200 participants in Ostrava in 2019, and plans to do it again in the future. Popelka also has experience organising mini volleyball tournaments in the South Bohemia region with participation of more than 500 kids in the ‘pre-COVID era’.

Kerish Maharaj, the Community Outreach Manager and Grassroots Manager for the Ontario Volleyball Association, Canada, will be hosting the following webinar on May 12. His main work revolves around building and maintaining relationships that support the growth of youth volleyball programmes through the planning, development, and implementation of province-wide grassroots initiatives for both indoor and beach volleyball. In addition to being a former national volleyball athlete for his native Trinidad and Tobago, he has 20+ years of experience in the field of youth-sport programme design, physical education, coaching education and Sport for Development across 17 countries. He enjoys designing and working with challenging opportunities that require innovative change to use sport to improve the quality of life and happiness for others.

Finally, Franca Abbo from Italy will deliver the last session of this series on May 20. Franca is an instructor of the Italian Volleyball Federation (FIPAV) working for the Volley S3 project in Italy, which has helped inspire many kids to start playing Volleyball at a young age in her home country. She will be hosting this webinar with the help of her colleague Daniela Bordoli.
