After the coronavirus crisis and the resulting travel restrictions imposed a number of postponements, the EuroAsia Coaches Cooperation programme will eventually take place in Bangkok, Thailand in partnership with the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC). The programme will run from March 22-28 with a mixture of theoretical and practical sessions, as well as some sessions online (due to the required quarantine day onsite).

After many meetings together with AVC and the lecturers, the partners decided to combine the CEV Expert’s (Belgium’s Gert Vande Broek) and the AVC Expert’s (India’s GE Sridharan) programmes into one at one location, i.e. the FIVB Development Centre in Bangkok, Thailand. Due to the varying restrictions and after assessing all requirements, this was the best option to pursue.

Unfortunately, three of the coaches originally due to attend the programme – Wilavan Apinyapong (Thailand), Hazel Perrens (Norway) and Lesley de Jonge (Netherlands) – have withdrawn, with Andreas Reiser (Austria) and Stijn Hoessels (Belgium) stepping in. They will be travelling to Thailand for a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to develop their skills and bring back home some good knowledge to share with their colleagues.
