CEV delegation delivers inspiring workshop at annual ICOACHKIDS Conference
News
A delegation from the European Volleyball Confederation proudly participated in the 8th Annual ICOACHKIDS Conference, held this year at the Lithuanian Sports University in Kaunas, Lithuania. ICOACHKIDS is a non-profit global movement dedicated to advancing sport policy, education, and practices that prioritise children’s needs and well-being. This commitment aligns closely with the CEV’s mission, and it was formalised in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with ICOACHKIDS back in 2021, thereby fostering a strong partnership.
During a dedicated workshop session, Jaejung Jung from the CEV’s Development Department presented new educational resources specifically designed for Volleyball and Beach Volleyball. Jung emphasised the adaptability and user-friendly nature of these materials, enabling teachers and coaches to deliver quality training sessions regardless of resource limitations or any other constraints. This initiative reflects CEV’s dedication to supporting grassroots programmes, thereby laying a solid foundation for the future of European Volleyball.
Following this, European Coaches Commission (ECOC) Secretary Remko Kenter delivered a dynamic demonstration of ‘Action Volley’ activities specifically designed for school settings, thereby highlighting the coach’s role in creating meaningful and memorable experiences for young athletes. He emphasised the importance of listening to children’s ideas and fostering an environment where they feel welcomed and valued.
Participants responded positively to the innovative and accessible approaches shared by the CEV, eventually disclosing plans to incorporate CEV’s resources and techniques in their schools. This exchange marks another milestone in the commitment that the CEV and ICOACHKIDS share when it comes to empowering youth through sport across the whole of Europe.
