CEV holds historic online Extraordinary General Assembly
News
To ensure full compliance with the updated Luxembourgish legislation on non-profit organisations, members of the European Volleyball family came together online for the first time in history on Friday morning to review and discuss the CEV’s financial accounts – with an in-person General Assembly due to follow this coming September 24 in Milano, Italy. Delegates representing as many as 51 National Federations joined the online session.
CEV President Roko Sikirić hailed the historic occasion: “It shows the evolution of our organisation as well as the commitment to full transparency and good governance that we are gathering online for this Extraordinary General Assembly today,” he said. “European Volleyball continues to go from strength to strength and I am especially pleased with the revamped European League featuring 53 teams from as many as 29 National Federations, whose League Round concluded last week after many exciting matches whereby four teams per gender also qualified for the next EuroVolley in 2028. I am also pleased with the performance of the European teams currently involved in the Volleyball Nations League,” he added.
The CEV President did also emphasise the sound development of the organisation: “After many years with a negative result, in 2025 we managed to secure a positive outcome and 2026 represents a true milestone in European Volleyball history with the largest budget ever and the most impressive result expected for a single financial year,” he stressed. “This confirms that we are on the right track as we pursue our vision to diversify revenue streams and to monetise our rights via the adoption of a more commercially-driven approach, a path we will continue to explore and further develop,” he said.
CEV Vice-President, Treasurer and EFC President Guy Juwet discussed the finalised accounts for 2025, the updated budget for 2026 as well as the provisional budget for 2027, emphasising the sound management and healthy financial situation of the European Volleyball Confederation. All of these financial documents were approved by the delegates attending the online Assembly.
“I would like to thank you for your support, the confidence and the trust you have placed in us,” the CEV President added. “We will continue to work diligently and tirelessly to provide the best opportunities for our members to grow the game as I know that the best for European Volleyball is yet to come,” he concluded.
