Luxembourg, January 6, 2021. On Wednesday morning, the CEV Technical and Development Department had a follow up Zoom call with colleagues and friends from the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) and the supportive team to Mr GE Sridharan to move things forward with the EuroAsia Coaches Cooperation project. The purpose of the meeting was to introduce each team member to each other and to discuss the plans for the stage of the programme due to take place in Thailand.

After exchanging best wishes for the year 2021, each one of the members could introduce themselves and express their own motivations for the project. It was emphasised that the curriculums presented should be as well rounded and complete as possible to best challenge and teach the coaches participating. All team members will receive the profiles of the eight European selected coaches in order best tailor and finalise the programme.

The project is the first such action involving two Continental Confederations, with participation of eight coaches from Europe and just as many from Asia / Oceania. If the COVID-19 pandemic interferes with the onsite programmes due to take place in Belgium and Thailand, the parties have agreed to postpone the project to see it through when everything is safe.

“It is the first time we do a project like this in cooperation with another Confederation, without the assistance of FIVB,” said CEV’s Head of Development, Vuk Karanovic, at the end of the call. “Although we have received some funding for this project, we look to the future to continue similar initiatives between our Confederations. The group of coaches attending represent the next generation and have a lot to offer to all the National Federations, thus we hope and believe we can achieve something great together.”

Next to Mr Karanovic and CEV Development Coordinator Katrina Reuter, the following people attended the call:

-    GE Sridharan (leading expert for the programme in Asia)
-    Park Ki-Won (chairman of the AVC Coaches Committee)
-    Mr Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai (AVC Secretary General)
-    Dr Mahamoud Afshardoust (programme team – coach for skills/practical)
-    Alireza Tolookian (programme team – scout man/analyser)
-    Dr Digvijay Singh Rathore (programme team – physiotherapist)
-    Dr Shihab Aldin Ahmed (programme team – coach and physical trainer)
-    Dr Natarajan (programme team – certified yoga instructor)
