Volleyball takes centre stage as Armenia celebrates Children’s Protection Day
News
June 1 is celebrated as Children’s Protection Day in Armenia, and in conjunction with this holiday a competition called Spartlandia was held with the participation of kindergarten teams from the Shengavit community of Yerevan (about 65 children), where children from four kindergartens competed in various exercises, including Volleyball skills such as passes, catching the ball, etc. Karen Asmaryan, President of the Volleyball Federation of Armenia (VFA), was also invited to this wonderful event, during which the participating kindergarten teams were given balls by the VFA.
A new initiative has been developed in cooperation between the Volleyball Federation of Armenia and the Yerevan Municipality, through which it will be possible to visit all kindergartens in Yerevan, where mini volleyball training will be held, as well as balls will be provided to children.
The new programme is a pilot project, and in case of proven effectiveness and interest, it will be spread throughout Armenia. This new programme is one of the best ways to promote a healthy lifestyle, as well as to introduce children to the sport of Volleyball from a young age.
