Cyprus Volleyball family looking forward to historic #EuroVolleyU17W in 2024

Further to the official announcement early last week (click here for more info) that Cyprus would be co-hosting the 2024 edition of #EuroVolleyU17W together with Greece, the Cyprus Volleyball Association delivered this past Friday, October 29, a press conference focusing on this historic milestone. Next to this, the President of the Cyprus Volleyball Association, Dr Michalis Krashias, revealed the names of the coaches due to work with the rising Volleyball stars from the Mediterranean island.

In his speech, Dr Krashias emphasised the many benefits that Cyprus will gain from the organisation of the European event. “Cypriot Volleyball will be a pole of attraction and in this way we will be able to involve more children in our sport. Cyprus will be the centre of European Volleyball during the championship.” The event will bring people to the games, and participation in the Final Round of a continental championship will improve the status and position of Cyprus Volleyball internationally. After the #EuroVolleyU17W premiere in 2024, the next goal of the Cyprus Volleyball Association will be to organise a similar championship for boys as well.
During the media conference, Dr Krashias announced the names of the coaches due to grow the young prospects of Cyprus Volleyball. Nikos Zalmas from Greece will be responsible for the U17 men’s team as well as of the younger groups too. Loizos Loizou will be at the helm of the U16 women’s team. The technical director of the National teams is Petros Patsias.
