Record-breaking U16 championship held in Albania

This past month, the Albanian National Federation did organise the U16 national championship – an event run in conjunction with the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’. This featured as many as 24 teams, divided into five groups and all comprising of young secondary school students.
Therefore, the event involved as many as 288 young players and 48 coaches, with teams playing their respective matches on two consecutive days.
Moreover, representatives of the Albanian National Federation did have a meeting with the President of the National Olympic Committee regarding the project specifically designed for the development of team sports across the Balkan country. Secondary school children enrolled in this project are practicing every day on a regular schedule, and in this meeting details for organising the respective school championship in each sport were discussed. Additionally, the parties discussed the possibility of ‘tracking’ children who through this project are identified as promising talents for the future of the sport and how to make sure they become members of teams / clubs competing in nationwide volleyball competitions.
