The Bulgarian capital - Sofia, is getting ready to host the flagship Volleyball Development event in Europe - the CEV Coaches Convention. The 2024 two-day event is aimed at coaches and physical education teachers from across the continent, providing them with the opportunities to learn both on a theoretical and a practical level from distinguished specialists in the field.

After hosting the Convention back in September 2023, the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation (BVF) was entrusted again with the organisation of the event as this will be the fifth edition of the CEV Coaches Convention, and will take place between 14 and 15 September in the capital of the Balkan country.

The participants of the 2023 #CEVCoachesConvention

As previously announced, speakers from Japan, Norway and Serbia will delve into more details around Volleyball at grassroots levels, and how the Volleyball coaches can work with youngsters, identifying talents, challenges, different paths and approaches in order to bring out the best out of their players on the court.

Three qualified and high-ranked speakers will arrive in Sofia in September - Atsushi Katoh (JPN), Kåre Mol (NOR), and Ranko Rajović (SRB) will be taking the floor in Levski Sofia Sports Hall, where both the theoretical and practical sessions will take place. Stay tuned for interviews with the speakers, and meanwhile, find out more about them here

The President of BVF, Mr. Lyubomir Ganev, expressed his gratification that Sofia is hosting again the event:

"It is a pleasure to meet for a second consecutive year coaches from so many countries. Moreover, we are proud that, with the organisation of such an event, we contribute to the development of Volleyball specialists. This is a very interesting and fruitful convention, and the fact that this time around, we have speakers from three different Volleyball schools - the Asian, the Scandinavian, and the Balkan one, speaks for itself, highlighting the deep and diverse knowledge that the attendees will be gaining.”

Lyubomir Ganev
BVF President

"We are happy that we have been entrusted again to be hosting one of the most important events in the CEV calendar, and that we are proving ourselves as very good hosts. The conditions we provided last year for the speakers and for the attendees, including both the theoretical and practical activities, were highly assessed by those present, and we are looking forward to welcoming again the Volleyball coaches.”

Chief coordinator of the project at the BVF

The 2024 Activities

The attendees of the 2024 CEV Coaches Convention will be arriving to the Bulgarian capital on Friday, 13 September.

The actual kick-off of the event will be on the following morning, Saturday, 14 September, with the theoretical sessions being first on the agenda. The three speakers will be sharing their wide knowledge on chosen topics, and at the end of each session, the attendees will have the chance to interact with the lecturers in Q&A sessions.

The practical sessions will be taking place in the afternoon, as the speakers will have the chance to work with young local Volleyball players from VC Levski Sofia, as the focus of the activities will be to back up the theoretical knowledge discussed earlier on that day.

2023 #CEVCoachesConvention practical sessions

On Sunday, 15 September, the young coaches and PE teachers will take part in working group sessions, where they will be able to discuss and work creatively with colleagues with different backgrounds in order to deliver solutions to problems that coaches face in their day-to-day work with youngsters.
