Bulgarian Volleyball legends inspire pupils to play the game

Volleyball legends Evgeni Ivanov and Nikolay Ivanov have touched the enthusiasm and talent of many pupils who have joined the “School Volley” campaign run by the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation in conjunction with the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’.

The latest stop of their roadshow was in the capital’s 55th SU Petko Karavelov. The school in the Darvenica district, which has a 144-year-long history, teaches over 1,550 students in elementary, junior high and high school. Children from the fourth to the sixth grade demonstrated their volleyball skills under the expert guidance of coaches from the Stoychev-Kaziyski Volleyball Academy (VASK). After the training, they took many photos with the former captains of the Bulgarian national team - Evgeni Ivanov and Nikolay Ivanov.

“Acad. Daki Yordanov” Primary School in the city of Omurtag hosted the next stop of the project, which aims to popularise Volleyball as a sport among teenagers and caused huge interest among all students. The girls and boys from the city were eager to meet the big names of Bulgarian Volleyball.

With the visit to the city of Omurtag, the campaign continues its tour, the main mission of which is to show that education and sports can go hand in hand. The project “School Volley” of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation has become a favourite of thousands of Bulgarian children and awakens many emotions and a positive mood in different parts of the country.

“I sincerely believe that education and sports go hand in hand. Sports, and more specifically Volleyball, inculcate in younger people valuable qualities such as discipline, tolerance, respect for teammates, coaches, and rivals."

The Volleyball club Levski Sofia invited to its last match of the regular season all the children involved in the “School Volley’ project from the two capital schools they work with, in order to get them even closer to the game.
