This past week, CEV President Roko Sikirić paid a visit to Holyoke, Massachusetts, the birthplace of Volleyball, to attend the International Volleyball Hall Of Fame Class of 2026 induction ceremony together with many more high-ranking leaders and legends of the game.
“Being where our sport was born reminds us not only of how far Volleyball has come, but also reaffirms our shared responsibility to preserve its legacy, and continue its development,” he said. “My sincere congratulations to this year’s inductees on this well-deserved recognition. Each of them made an important contribution to our sport, helping shape its history and inspire future generations,” he continued.
The Class of 2026 included, among others, former FIVB President Dr Ary S. Graça F° as well as France’s Laurent Tillie, who helped their men’s national team reach unprecedented heights, including EuroVolley gold in 2015, World League titles and a historic Olympic gold medal at Tokyo 2020.
“I was pleased to see Laurent Tillie among this year’s inductees. Having had the privilege of being coached by him during my playing career, it was a proud moment to see his outstanding achievements and contribution to Volleyball recognised. My sincere thanks to the International Volleyball Hall of Fame for their dedication to preserving our sport’s history, honouring those who have shaped it, and inspiring future generations. It is only by honouring our past that we can build a sustainable future,” the CEV President concluded.
