On Thursday, the headquarters of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus played host to an extraordinary General Assembly of the Belarus Volleyball Federation. The 32 delegates from six regions and the capital city of Minsk unanimously elected Vladimir Vashchenko as the new President of the organisation. Vashchenko has been working very hard for quite some time to grow and develop Volleyball and raise its profile across the Eastern European nation.

“Volleyball is popular in our country. We see that people are happy to go to see such a beautiful game. We have every opportunity to make this sport even more popular – it is worth showing desire, perseverance, diligence, and then we can really shine.”

Belarus have achieved much success in recent age-group competitions, with their U19 women’s national team finishing third at last year’s European Championship in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia to claim the country’s second medal in history in this age group. Moreover, both the Belarusian men’s and women’s national teams have qualified for the 2021 edition of EuroVolley.
