Markopoulo, Greece, January 31, 2020. Italian Volleyball legend Carmelo Pittera – who was at the helm of Italy’s national team in the 70s and 80s when the ‘Azzurri’ enjoyed their international breakthrough – recently paid a visit to Greece. While there, he enjoyed the opportunity to meet with his young compatriot Pasqualino Giangrossi, who is currently at the helm of AO MARKOPOULO Revoil in the Greek women’s national league, and to celebrate his victory over Aris THESSALONIKI.

After the game, Pittera spoke about his connections with Greece, the game in Markopoulo, the club and Pasqualino Giangrossi. “It has been over 40 years that I keep close links with Greece and people in Greek Volleyball. I am very happy that I could watch the game in Markopoulo and meet Pasqualino Giangrossi. It was an emotional moment. Volleyball in Greece is at a very good level. Today in Markopoulo, I did not watch just a good game, but I saw a very good club, well organised, with a president full of energy, and this kind of assets can help the club reach its goals!”

“It was an honour and a pleasure to receive the visit of one of the most important coaches that Italy has ever produced, one of the fathers of Italy’s golden generation. Many thanks to professor Carmelo Pittera for his visit and time,” said Giangrossi.
