Luxembourg, November 1, 2020. Despite the many restrictions already introduced across Europe to curb the surge in the number of infections from the novel coronavirus, more and more children are taking their first steps in Volleyball with the help of the CEV’s School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’.

Some 20 kids, including boys and girls, attended a Volleyball session, the first action of this kind held at the elementary school ‘Braka Miladinovci’ and organised by the Volleyball club Vesna Probistip in North Macedonia. The programme of the workshop delivered this past Monday, October 26, featured basic stretching and Volleyball exercises, as well as some sort of competition in order to involve the children even more in the activities delivered at their home school.

Moving from the Balkan area to Scandinavia, the CEV School Project is gaining momentum in Denmark as well. The Volleyklubben Vestsjælland (VKV) paid a visit to Høng skole and distributed to the local pupils volleyballs provided by the CEV. Moreover, KFUM Volley have intensified their work alongside Ikast Nordre skole, visiting the school as many as five times and delivering eight ‘COVID-19 friendly’ workshops in cooperation with the local physical education teachers and school personnel. The main goal was to introduce a revisited version of the Volleyball game called Teenvolley to all students, with the only exception being the pupils from the first grade.

We are all living very difficult and challenging times, but it truly is encouraging and heart-warming to see so many children falling in love with Volleyball – and we are sure that these school workshops will only mark the beginning of their long-lasting association with the game!
