School Project sparks Volleyball fever across Kosovo

The CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ has made great strides towards introducing Volleyball to youngsters from Decan and Vitia, two Kosovar communities where the sport was relatively unknown this far. Through collaborative efforts with teachers, students, and coaches, the Kosovo Volleyball Federation (FVK) has ignited interest and enthusiasm for Volleyball. The future of this project will depend on sustained dedication and resources to ensure further growth and success in these communities. “We remain committed to this cause and are excited about the potential positive impact on the lives of many young athletes,” the organisers say.
The project team first travelled to Decan Municipality, an area with limited exposure to Volleyball as a sport. They engaged in discussions with teachers from primary schools in the area, including Lidhja e Prizrenit and Tafil Kasumaj schools. The primary objective was to introduce the project and discuss the benefits of Volleyball for children’s physical and social development. The FVK delegation outlined their plan to send qualified coaches to these schools to conduct monthly Volleyball activities. During these discussions, the FVK aimed to convince teachers and school administrators of the potential of Volleyball in their curriculum and lay the groundwork for the establishment of a local volleyball club.
In addition to the activities run in Decan, the FVK also visited Vitia, where they organised a joint volleyball practice. Approximately 87 children from various schools in Vitia participated, along with 11 of their teachers. The event was not only an educational opportunity but also highly enjoyable, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie among participants. The positive atmosphere and enthusiasm for Volleyball were evident throughout the event. The FVK received commitments from teachers to work diligently towards the promotion of Volleyball within their respective schools.
