Much awaited age-group school competitions held in Greenland
News
May was a busy month for Greenland’s Volleyball family, with national championships contested across the U12, U14, and U16 age groups in the country’s capital Nuuk on May 18-19 with participation of teams representing I-69 Ilulissat, CIF-70 Qasigiannguit, KB-84 Kangaatsiaq, KTVI Kangaamiut, and GSS Volleyball Nuuk.
The two days were packed with many matches, with kids and teens having their own share of fun and enjoying the opportunity to make new friends. Plans have been devised to deliver more competitions for school teams, such as the summer event in Disko Bay, which will see participation of CIF-70, I-69, and KB-84.
To grow the game and provide more opportunities to young players, the Greenland Volleyball Association hosted a webinar on May 29 with their key stakeholders – the main idea is to deliver more nationwide competitions, at least twice per season, with the first scheduled for the fall of each year and a second to follow in the spring.
The perspectives look promising especially at CIF-70 in Qasigiannguit, where new coaches are at work to support the growth and further development of local kids and teens. These are due to contest the previously mentioned summer tournament in Disko Bay.
