Jana Kulan, a former member of the Slovak and Azerbaijani women’s national teams, will be leading the next CEV School Project webinar scheduled for April 29 at noon CEST. Starting from her international experience as an elite player with stints in a variety of national leagues in Europe, Asia and even in the United States, as well as drawing lessons from coaching youth teams at VK Jihostroj České Budějovice in Czechia, Jana brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table. By delivering a lecture under the theme ‘Spike Their Motivation: Keeping Kids Engaged in Volleyball’, Kulan aims to equip fellow coaches with effective strategies to inspire and motivate young players. She will delve into the essence of motivation, thereby exploring the differences between intrinsic and extrinsic drive and their impact on sports. 

Through personal anecdotes and insights, Jana will emphasise the power of intrinsic motivation in fostering both resilience and diligence, while also acknowledging the role of extrinsic rewards in pushing players beyond their limits. Furthermore, she will highlight the importance of making Volleyball as enjoyable as possible and of fostering a team culture based on camaraderie and laughter, thereby advocating for game-like practices, effective communication with both players and parents, and a focus on process-oriented goals. Her primary objective is to not only retain kids in Volleyball but also to ignite a lasting passion and dedication for the sport.
