Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, May 31, 2019. The Volleyball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina have received a special in the Brčko District for the implementation of the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball, grow with it’, which has already involved pupils from as many as 15 primary schools in Brčko as well as the provision of sports equipment donated by the CEV.

Mr Alija Fatić, President of the Volleyball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, received a plaque from Mara Nakić, the Head of the Government Subgroup responsible for preschool and elementary education. The Vice President of the Volleyball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr Milutin Popović, attended the ceremony as well.

The Brčko project partners are the Brčko District Government and three Volleyball clubs that compete in the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina. These are the women’s club Bimal Jedinstvo and the men’s clubs Mladost and Jedinstvo. This year, the project will continue in Sarajevo and Banja Luka, thus involving an additional 80 schools. They will all receive one net and ten volleyballs, before a school competition takes place at a later stage.

Milutin Popović, Vice President of the Volleyball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasises that this project is extremely important for the further growth and development of Volleyball in the region.

“The goal of the project is the popularisation of Volleyball, the inclusion of elementary school students in the project and in sport, the socialisation of young people, and the delivery of a competition adjusted to the youth and to their skills. It is important that the National Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina have received the CEV’s support, which reflects their appreciation for the many projects that we had successfully implemented in our country. It is also important that we have established a good partnership with the Government of Brčko District and local Volleyball clubs and we are pleased that the Volleyball Federation has received such a recognition of its social role,” said the President of the Volleyball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Alija Fatić.

It is the second such recognition for a National Federation involved in the implementation of the CEV School Project, after the Faroese Volleyball Association (FBF) received such an award from their authorities earlier this year.
