Match Report

Yellow Tigers stun Ukraine in three quick sets

Article

Belgium claimed a rather comprehensive 3-0 victory over Ukraine and with this some precious points in their quest for a spot in the elimination phase of the tournament. Belgium failed to make it out of their pool two years ago in Ganja and Baku, Azerbaijan, and hope to make up for that setback while competing in Lodz. The Yellow Tigers have a EuroVolley medal to their name – bronze they won quite surprisingly in 2013 in Berlin.

Day 1 Recap

Play

“The match against Ukraine was not as easy as it may seem. We felt some nervousness. We hope that it will be easier to control our emotions moving from match to match. We would like to pose a threat to Poland and Italy, who everyone regard as the top favourites in the pool. The Polish team has been playing very well lately, and the match with the Italians will be very difficult because they are a young and crazy team.”
