Armenia’s U16 national champions crowned in Charentsavan

The teams of KhMOMM and Arabkir were recently crowned U16 national champions of the Republic of Armenia in the girls’ and boys’ divisions, respectively. The 2024 edition of the national championship specifically designed for this age category did run from September 24 to 29 in Charentsavan, Kotayk Province, with participation of 11 boys’ and 13 girls’ teams.

This impressive figure in terms of entries accounted for as many as 48 matches contested during the championship. Many of the participating teams had prepared for this event for a long time and with much diligence, and the local organisers together with the management of the local arena in Charentsavan contributed to the excellent delivery of the tournament. 

The pool phase lasted for three days, after which the best teams competed in the playoffs.

In his speech during the awarding of the medals, Karen Asmaryan, Secretary General of the Volleyball Federation of Armenia (VFA), thanked the Kotayk Province Governorate and the Charentsavan Municipality for supporting the championship. He is also emphasised the VFA continued dedication to grow the sport across the country, most importantly through the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’.

The prize-winning teams were awarded with medals, cups, balls, as the best athletes received special gifts. Moreover, the Charentsavan sports school was provided with high-quality sports equipment by the VFA in recognition of their contribution to the successful delivery of the U16 national championship.
