Neslihan DEMIR (TUR)
Turkey’s ‘Iron Lady’, Neslihan helped her national team claim a historic silver medal from the 2003 edition of the European Championship. Her list of individual accolades is endless and her resume includes, inter alia, the CEV Champions League title in 2015 and two gold medals from the FIVB Club World Championship in 2015 and 2016. She was Turkey’s flagbearer at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Manon NUMMERDOR-FLIER (NED)
An extremely athletic and powerful opposite hitter, Flier won the FIVB World Grand Prix in 2007 as well as silver medals from the 2009 and 2015 editions of the European Championship. She was the MVP of the 2007 World Grand Prix Finals and 2009 EuroVolley.
Ekaterina GAMOVA (RUS)
One of the tallest female Volleyball players ever standing at 202 cm, Gamova is a two-time world champion in 2006 and 2010, a two-time European champion and double Olympic silver medallist. In 2014, she helped Dinamo KAZAN claim the only Russian success to this date in the CEV Champions League.
Angelina HÜBNER-GRÜN (GER)
A two-time winner of the CEV Champions League, Grün spent most of her competitive career in Italy. She is a two-time medallist from the European Championship, with the silver and bronze she won in 2011 and 2003, respectively.
Evgenia ARTAMONOVA-ESTES (RUS)
Together with Sergey Tetyukhin, she is the only Volleyball player who has participated in six consecutive editions of the Olympic Games. A four-time European champion, she is a three-time bronze medallist from the World Championship and two-time Olympic silver medallist.
Irina KIRILLOVA (URS/CRO)
An eight-time winner of the now defunct CEV Champions Cup, Kirillova swept every possible honour with the Soviet national team, winning Olympic gold (1988), a World Championship title (1990) as well as the European Championship in 1989 and 1991. Later in her career, she switched allegiance to Croatia achieving further success with Mladost ZAGREB and their national team as well. She retired in 2012 at the age of 47.
Elisa TOGUT (ITA)
Togut was highly instrumental towards Italy's historic success at the 2002 World Championship in Berlin. Togut was the eventual MVP of the competition after Italy beat USA in the gold medal match to become - at the time - only the second European nation to claim World Championship gold. Togut is a silver-medal winner from the 2001 and 2005 editions of the European Championship.
Maurizia CACCIATORI (ITA)
A two-time EuroVolley medallist, Cacciatori was the best setter of the 1998 World Championship held in Japan and the captain of the very first Italian women's national team that competed at the Olympics - doing so at Sydney 2000. She is a three-time winner of the CEV Champions Cup / Champions League.
Barbara RUZIC-JELIC (CRO)
The world's best Volleyball player of the late 90s, Jelic helped Croatia claim three straight silver medals from the European Championship between 1995 and 1999.
Mila KJOSSEVA (BUL)
Kjosseva was a member of the Bulgarian national team that achieved a historic success at the 1981 European Championship on home soil, where the hosts ended the Soviet winning streak in the competition after seven straight editions dominated by the USSR.
Inna RYSKAL (URS)
Inna Ryskal was a member of the legendary Soviet team that together with Japan dominated the international scene in the 60s and 70s. The Baku-born player claimed four straight Olympic medals, including gold in 1968 and 1972 as well as silver in 1964 and 1976. She was a European champion in 1963, 1967 and 1971 and a world champion in 1970.
