U15 national championships cap memorable year for Volleyball in Armenia
News
This past December 9-14, the Volleyball Federation of Armenia (VFA) organised their national championship for U15 boys and girls at the Yeghvard Sports Hall with participation of 12 teams from different cities across the Caucasus country.
The teams first competed in subgroups, after which the semi-final and final matches were contested. The championship was the last such age-group competition in 2025, and before that, the Volleyball Federation of Armenia had already delivered similar events in another three age categories. The Yerevan-based team Ajapnyak were crowned U15 national champions for girls, and the Avan team achieved the same feat for boys. The participating teams were all awarded with medals, cups, and other souvenirs.
The U17 championship contested earlier in 2025 included three stages, with 12 teams involved in the opening phase, six in the second, and the top four competing in the all-deciding playoffs. This format turned out to be very effective. In 2026, the VFA will increase the number of competitions following this same format to two, thereby opening the door for more teams to compete and to showcase their continued progress.
Moreover, the 2025 CEV U16 Men European Championships were held in Yerevan this past summer, and this historic event has already had a very effective impact on the further development of Volleyball in Armenia.
