The Greenlandic Volleyball Federation (aka Kalaallit Volleyball-Ertartut Kattuffiat, KVK) recently unveiled their new logo, which has been designed to embody and represent the core values of the association and, at the same time, the unique identity of Greenland.

Each element of the logo has been carefully selected to reflect the mission of the organisation to promote the sport of Volleyball and create unity among clubs scattered throughout the island.

A volleyball is the central element of the logo, thereby symbolising the sport and the dynamic game that Greenlandic people are so fond of. It also represents the community, passion, and energy that KVK stands for.

The icebergs represent Greenland’s iconic nature, whose most common and prominent features are ice and snow. The icebergs are a strong visual element that connects KVK with the country and its unique culture and environment.

The three pieces symbolise the cooperation and community established among three organisations (KVK, CEV, FIVB) responsible for the governance of Volleyball on a national, European, and global level.

Finally, inspired by the flag of Greenland, the colours – red and white – symbolise national pride. Subtle blue details are featured as well to highlight the sea and the connection to nature, which plays a major role in Greenlandic society.

KVK’s mission is to promote the sport of Volleyball and create unity among clubs throughout Greenland – thereby overcoming logistical and other challenges resulting from the very peculiar location of the country. Back in March, Greenland did welcome an official CEV delegation for the first time in history, as the KVK is making good use of the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ to nurture and inspire the next generation of players and grow the game at the grassroots level.
