The Azerbaijan Volleyball Federation and more specifically their Development Department continue to expand the reach of the CEV School Project ‘Play Volleyball – Grow with it’ across the Caucasus country. Earlier this month, scouting activities were organised in a variety of cities and districts, including Baku, Sumgayit, Zangezur, Ganja, Tovuz, and Shaki – with more such sessions due to take place soon also in the exclave of Nakhchivan.
The session run at the Baku Regional Development Centre involved nearly 100 children with a focus on their height, weight, age, and they will soon be involved in training activities under the supervision of the local head coach. On January 24, Shahin Chatma, head coach of the national youth and junior national teams, supervised a selection process held at the Ganja Regional Volleyball Club, with participation of some 50 young players born in 2012 and 2013.
The next such session was organised in the city of Tovuz where Mr Chatma observed and monitored the physical and technical preparation of the local girls born in 2012 and 2013 from the Tovuz Volleyball Academy. Athletes who showed positive results during the selection stage will be invited to join the junior national team.
