Podgorica, Montenegro, February 11, 2019. The Volleyball Federation of Montenegro (OSCG) officially kick started the CEV School Project with an event held in a crowded hall of the elementary school ‘Radojica Perović’ in Podgorica. The project runs alongside the EKO mini volleyball league, a competition for children aged 9-12 organised by the Volleyball Association of Montenegro with the sponsorship of the company Jugopetrol AD, EKO gas stations and the support of the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the Secretariat for Culture and Sports of Podgorica.

The Minister of Sports and Youth of Montenegro, Nikola Janović, the President of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro, Cvetko Pajković, plus the Marketing Manager of Jugopetrol AD, Sara Ivanović Božović attended the opening event, along with the Director General of the Directorate of Sports at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, Miloš Lalević. Mr Nemanja Ivanović and Mr Rajko Ćupić representing the Secretariat for Culture and Sport of the City of Podgorica were among those in attendance as well.

The CEV School Project in Montenegro will run alongside the EKO mini volleyball league, which features almost 650 participants and include a specific competition for elementary schools from all over the Balkan country, which accounts for another 1,000 participants. Moreover, the participants of the EKO mini volleyball league will receive balls provided by the CEV.

“We are extremely proud of the fact that our men’s senior national team has qualified for the CEV EuroVolley 2019, but we are just as excited about this joint action. Again, for the fourth time, we have the opportunity to start the season of such a competition, which means socialising, winning and losing, because in Volleyball there is no draw result. The EKO mini volleyball league is the largest Volleyball competition in Montenegro. It is certainly among the most popular sports competitions in our country. Moreover, from year to year we are becoming more and more numerous. There are more and more girls and boys wishing to become Volleyball players. This year, we have 56 teams and 650 children,” said Cvetko Pajković, President of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro.

The Minister of Sports and Youth, Mr Nikola Janović pointed out that he was especially pleased that the EKO mini volleyball league and the CEV School Project have gathered such a large number of children, stressing that the involvement in such actions will be strengthening their personality and team spirit, as well as preparing them for adult life.

The company Jugopetrol AD has already been the partner of the Volleyball Federation of Montenegro for three years in a row and has great merits for the great success of the project. “As a socially responsible company, we always strive to contribute to the community in creating a healthy environment and better conditions for the growth of the young generations. We are extremely pleased that this competition has a continuity and involves an ever-increasing number of children who in this way have the opportunity to create healthy habits, make new friendships and develop their spirit and talent. A record number of teams participating this year tells us how much children feel attracted to this sport and I believe that some of these kids are among the future members of our national teams,” concluded Sara Ivanović Božović, Marketing Manager of Jugopetrol AD.
