Copenhagen, Denmark, December 24, 2019. With the help of the CEV School Project, Volleyball Denmark have managed to mobilise more and more children – thus sharing with the youngsters the excitement that goes with playing the game. This past December 18, Team Køge Volley organised an event involving pupils from as many as seven classes from Skovboskolen, Højelse school, Hastrup school as well as Asgård school.

The programme started with a course for physical education teachers. They attended three classes before the teachers themselves gave the following three lessons and eventually all students and teachers came together for the final event. It has been an exciting and evolving process for everyone involved and Volleyball Denmark hope that the teachers can come up with good ideas for coaching Volleyball and that after this experience, the students will want to play the game even more in the future.

Earlier this month, on December 6, Espegærde Volleyball organised a Kidsvolley tournament on their own for the fourth grades from Grydemoseskolen and Mørdrupskolen (see picture). After witnessing the enthusiasm and skills of the young players on such a lovely Friday morning, the organisers hope that many of them will come for training again.

“It has been a pleasure to promote Volleyball at school among teachers and pupils,” says Sven Brix, Secretary General of Volleyball Denmark and ‘founder’ of the project. “The quality of their skills has increased a lot during a short period of time and their commitment was amazing. Volleyball has something unique to offer to the youngsters regarding physical and technical challenges and especially the social environment in the school. We will for sure continue this work and hope to achieve even more remarkable results in 2020.”
