Last ECC meeting held in Luxembourg before establishment of European Volleyball Commission
News
Following their joint meeting with colleagues from the European Sports Organising Commission (ESOC) held on Wednesday morning, members of the CEV European Cups Commission (ECC) had their ‘own’ plenary meeting at the home of European Volleyball in Luxembourg, with a focus on taking lessons from the past and current season, while already devising plans for the 2024-2025 campaign.

The ECC members discussed a draft of the calendar, reviewed the recently issued ranking lists confirming the allocation of slots to each National Federation across the CEV Champions League, the CEV Cup and the CEV Challenge Cup – and discussed potential amendments and changes to the current provisions of the CEV Volleyball Competitions Regulations. All such proposals will be further analysed and reviewed by the CEV Board of Administration in early 2024 to confirm rules and procedures for yet another exciting season of club Volleyball across Europe.
This was the last ECC meeting for the 2020-2024 term and following changes to the CEV General Regulations approved earlier this year, the ECC and ESOC will be dissolved to allow for the establishment of a European Volleyball Commission (EVC) responsible for overseeing equally the governance, organisation, and delivery of Volleyball competitions for clubs as well as national teams.
ECC Honorary President Riet Ooms delivered a short, yet emotional address to coincide with her last meeting at the helm of a Commission that she chaired for many years, re-shaping club competitions a number of times with the help of many friends and colleagues and with the support of the relevant CEV’s leadership over the space of some three decades.
