The 2023 edition of the CEV European Cups is currently in full swing and it is therefore very fitting that members of the European Cups Commission (ECC) convened on Thursday in Luxembourg City to review the current status of things and make plans and proposals for 2024 and even further ahead.

ECC Honorary President Riet Ooms chaired the meeting, which included a productive exchange among the ECC members to assess pros and cons of the current regulations and formats as well as to share experiences taken from the interaction with clubs contesting the CEV Champions League, CEV Cup and CEV Challenge Cup. Earlier this week, some of the ECC members had a joint meeting with colleagues from the European Sports Organising Commission (ESOC) with a focus on the education of CEV Supervisors, on growing the next generation of such key officials and identifying the right pathway for their continuous development.

The ECC members discussed a series of proposed changes to the current CEV Volleyball Competitions Regulations designed to make competitions even more attractive for clubs from across Europe and to provide a platform that can help grow Volleyball in Europe even further. The current season will be reaching its climax with the highly anticipated Super Finals crowning the best men’s and women’s teams in Europe in late May of 2023.
