CEV President Aleksandar Boričić did pay this past weekend a truly historic and unprecedented visit to the Principality of Andorra for a series of high-profile meetings with national (sports) authorities and members of the local Volleyball family.

Shortly after his arrival from Barcelona, the CEV President, accompanied by CEV Senior Vice-President Renato Arena and CEV Vice-President Emma Labrador, had the pleasure of meeting with the manager of the Andorran Volleyball Federation (FAV), Mr Agustí Boldú, and with Mr Manel Casas, General Director of the MATE company, which organises the TIM Volleyball Tournaments in Andorra. This was a truly special opportunity for Mr Casas to discuss in detail the present and future of these tournaments.
Later in the evening, the CEV President and his colleagues met with Mr Xavier Folguera, FAV President, and Mr Boldú. The discussions revolved around the present and future of Volleyball in Andorra and on how to strengthen communication and collaboration between the CEV and the national governing body for Volleyball in Andorra.

The agenda of the weekend included a visit to the so-called CTEO (Ordino Sports Technology Centre) where the CEV delegation was received and guided by Ms Mònica Bonell, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports of Andorra, and Mr Alain Cabanes, Andorra’s State Secretary of Sports. Subsequently, a press conference took place with many Andorran media in attendance. Later, the CEV President joined an official lunch with representatives of the Government of Andorra, the Andorra National Olympic Committee, and the FAV.
In the afternoon, members of the FAV and representatives of the two Andorran clubs (Club Voleibol Andorra and Club Voleibol Encamp) had the opportunity to sit down with the CEV authorities and to discuss the future perspectives of the sport in the country.
Finally, on Sunday morning, the CEV President was able to have a short talk with Xavier Espot Zamora, Andorra’s Prime Minister.
In the afternoon, the CEV authorities presented the trophies to the winners of the TIM24 Zero Volleyball tournament.

The FAV would like to express their gratitude to Mr Boričić, Mr Arena and Ms Labrador for their presence in the country, which is highly important to help raise the profile of Volleyball in Andorra and to draw further attention and support from political and sports authorities alike.
