CEV President Aleksandar Boričić and the President of the Italian Volleyball Federation (FIPAV) Giuseppe Manfredi attended on Thursday the signing ceremony whereby the two parties formalised their agreement for the organisation of the 2026 edition of CEV EuroVolley Men. The event will be taking place across four host countries – Italy, Bulgaria, Finland and Romania – as per the format introduced in 2019 and will feature the 24 top teams from across the continent.

The two parties signed the agreement in Bologna - where the opening match of the 2023 edition was contested a little more than a year ago

The CEV President and his Italian counterpart signed the agreement shortly before the friendly match between Italy and Argentina contested in Bologna on Thursday evening – a key last test to assess where these two elite teams stand only about a week before the start of the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The CEV EuroVolley Men returns to Italy after the 2023 edition resulted in a major success, with matches held in Bologna, Perugia, Ancona, Bari and Rome – where Poland beat hosts Italy to claim their first European title since 2009 and second in their history. Team Italy will be trying to capitalise on the home-court advantage to reclaim the crown they won in 2021 in Poland. Italy will be playing host to the opening match, one out of four preliminary pools, four and two 8th and quarterfinals, respectively, plus the two semis and the subsequent medal matches.

Fans can already look forward to yet another majestic Volleyball party in two years’ time!

The agreement is further testament to the close cooperation developed between the CEV and the Italian Volleyball Federation
