Annual ECC meeting, including joint session with ESOC, held in Luxembourg

The European Cups Commission (ECC) had their annual plenary meeting earlier this week in conjunction with the Drawing of Lots for the CEV Champions League quarterfinals – even though due to travel restrictions some of the members had to join from afar via videoconference link.

ECC President Roman Stanislavov and his colleagues reviewed pros and cons of the European Cups season that started back in late September and will be reaching its climax in the coming weeks, with the major highlight being the #CLVolley Super Finals in May.
Apart from this, drawing lessons from the recent past, the ECC worked on a series of proposals for the 2023 calendar as well as for the format of the European Cups – with the CEV Board of Administration now due to discuss these ideas to finalise the concept that will be in place in the years to come.
In a joint session with their colleagues from the European Sports Organising Commission (ESOC), the ECC discussed potential changes and updates to the CEV Volleyball Competitions Regulations and other documents in an effort to standardise the approach across all club and national team competitions run under the umbrella of the CEV.
